Ok let's all be honest and say how hard the gp system is on you. you could win 3 ppl higher ranks then you, but then comes along an S rank who makes a new account to be an E rank and you lose more then you started. How do you guys deal with this as I'm constantly spending hours working up about 500 GP in an hour only to lose 700 in one match to someone who's obviously trolling (low gamerscore/ freshly made account). One way is that is they have a character that is not kasumi or it has 0 cp...

Test the following in training mode:
-Pick Kasumi vs Honoka
-COM ACTION Crouching Guard (or Guard All)
-COM REACTION High Kick
-Do 1K and try high/low holding the high kick. Make sure to be close to the opponent when doing the 1K in order to land it on its first active frame.

Here's an example video of me guarding it, then failing to hold, crouch dash, low punch, and throw it (to get hi counter'd):

EDIT: problem solved thanks for the replies, I had enough examples to fiddle with

Is there any attack in the entire game that puts the user into crouching status on the 1st frame and that doesn't involve pressing Down anywhere during the input? "Down" includes 1 2 and 3. It can be a strike/throw/hold/OH or anything.

I'm trying to explore a weird glitch regarding unholdables.

When framedata was introduced to me and I understood what is advantage and disadvantage, I thought I need to remember what moves are safe and what aren't. However this only helps for the character you know very well and is not of much use when you try to throw-punish your opponent. So I tried to figure out common sense behind the safety, and here are my observations:
  • High moves are safer than mid, mids are safer than lows.
  • Punches are safer than kicks.

Are there any other hold-resistant strikes that start a string, outside of Hayabusa's WR 4KK / WR 4KP (and also Mai's multi hitting 214P+K or Alpha's on hit 7KK/7KP/7KH in a twisted way)?
Hold resistant strikes are specific strikes that when held correctly will not directly damage the opponent, but instead an evasive invincible movement animation will replace it e.g. happens when you hold Leifang's shoulder (3P+K).

I cannot remember ever feeling so helpless in a fighting game before. There is obviously something very fundamental in DoA's defence systems that I am failing to grasp and it leaves me utterly helpless. I am frequently being Perfected by the easiest AI, so this is clearly an issue on absolute fundamentals rather than something that requires any amazing experience to do.

Firstly, I try to Block (Fighting Games 101). This works about 70% of the time, the rest I guess the attack was Low and...

I challenge FreeStepDodge to find all the unsafe on-hit Throws in this game! Keep in mind that they have to be guaranteed punishes, like in the video example below.

I'll start with some Ein anti-Tina technology, who seems to have 3 unsafe throws VS Ein:

This is all hypothetical ---- Whats is your opinion on the idea of adding mid-string cancels similar to Akira's 6KH but pressing H anytime would allow any move and any move within a string to be cancelled. If done quickly enough it can bait an opponent, trick your opponent to counter for a grab or as a means of getting a good force tech. Now if this happened the speed at which one slow escapes would also increase so it'd open up the game to making it faster and adding an interesting meta....
